01 — Brand identity
Brand identity
An identity is a system, not a logo file.
The value is in what happens when twenty different pieces have to look like the same company.
Brand identity covers the visual system a company applies across every surface: logo and its variations, colour palette, typography, imagery direction and the usage rules that keep it consistent. The deliverable is a working system with guidelines, not a single image file.
02 — Detail
Why the guidelines matter more than the logo.
A logo delivered without rules gets stretched, recoloured and placed on backgrounds that destroy its legibility within months. The guidelines are what make an identity survive contact with the people who have to use it.
Consistency compounds. A company whose ads, website, invoices and vehicle signage all look related accumulates recognition; one where each piece was designed separately spends the same money and accumulates nothing.
Practically, the most common failure we see is an identity that works on a printed card and collapses at the size of a social media avatar or an ad thumbnail. Testing at the smallest real usage size is part of the work, and it connects directly to creative production.
03 — How it works
What the work includes.
- 01
Positioning
What the company is and who it is for. Design decisions follow from this.
- 02
Logo system
Primary, secondary and reduced versions for the real range of sizes.
- 03
Colour and type
Palettes that work on screen and in print, with accessible contrast.
- 04
Application
How it looks on the site, in ads, on documents and on signage.
- 05
Guidelines
Rules a third party can follow without asking, because eventually one will have to.
